XWA Project

Overview:

As many know Sloulin Field International Airport had been part of the Williston community for nearly 70 years. During that time a lot had changed in aviation. Commercial air service activity grew from fewer than 6,000 passengers in 2005 to more than 100,000 passengers in 2015. Security needs became greatly different. Safety standards for aircraft operations evolved. All of these changes led to the construction of the Williston Basin International Airport, a new airport  that could meet the needs of today and tomorrow’s passengers, aircraft, and the community. Partnering with the State of North Dakota and the FAA, the City of Williston built the new airport to be flexible, sized appropriately, efficient and for the purpose of serving the city and region into the future.
