As many know Sloulin Field International Airport has been part of the Williston community for nearly 70 years. During that time a lot has changed in aviation. Commercial air service activity has grown from fewer than 6,000 passengers in 2005 to more than 100,000 passengers in 2015. Security needs are greatly different. Safety standards for aircraft operations have evolved. All of these changes have led to this construction of the Williston Basin International Airport. A new airport that can meet the needs of today and tomorrow’s passengers, aircraft, and the community. Partnering with the State of North Dakota and the FAA, the City of Williston built a new airport that is flexible, sized appropriately, efficient and serves the city and region into the future.
